Synthetic Court

There are some special playing surfaces made of synthetic materials. These synthetic courts are frequently found in an indoor setting. Tennis courts made of carpet are some of the most common ones. These carpet courts vary in playing characteristics because of the differences in thickness, texture, and the materials used in the base and the yarn.

Rubber surfaces, like the ones used in the Paris Masters, are also considered as carpet courts by the Association of Tennis Professionals. There are many other types of synthetic courts. Some artificial materials are even manufactured to simulate the playing surfaces of grass, clay or hard courts.
