The forehand is a shot that is struck from the dominant side of the player’s body by swinging the racquet in the direction where he would like to direct the ball. It is called a forehand because of the way the racquet is held by the player. If he were to hit the ball without a racquet, the ball would hit the palm of his hand, which is the opposite side from a backhand.

This is considered the easiest shot for anyone to master because it is the most natural stroke. Most beginners and even advanced tennis players have better forehands compared to any other shots.
